History of the Event:

The American Cancer Society Chili Cook-Off has become a much anticipated fundraiser since its inception in 1989, when the event was created in the back of the Lumber Yard restaurant with two men and a pot of chili. The event raised $550 that year for the American Cancer Society. The event has grown exponentially and in the years since 2006, the American Cancer Society’s Chili Cook-Off has had over 110,000 people come down to Bienville Square to taste over 662 different kinds of chili. With that being said, over $1.3 Million has been raised to support the American Cancer Society’s mission of eliminating cancer and creating a world with more birthdays.

There are judges that will be responsible for tasting chili from four different categories and selecting the top one from each group. The judges will taste the top chili from each category and judge on the best overall taste.  Prizes are awarded to the winner.  Presentation is not a factor.
